FAQs
Q: What types of therapy do you offer?
We provide a range of evidence-based treatments, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic/insight-oriented therapy, couples counseling (EFT & Gottman Method), solution-focused, and integrative therapy. We conduct a comprehensive assessment of the issues you are looking to improve and tailor our methods/assign a therapist according to your individual needs and goals.
Q: Do you accept insurance or offer sliding scale fees?
At The Prism Practice, we are considered an out-of-network provider for all insurance plans. Although we don’t bill insurance companies directly, we’re happy to provide you with a detailed statement (often called a “superbill”) that can be submitted to your insurer for possible out-of-network reimbursement. To make this process simpler, we’ve included a convenient benefits checker on our website (click the button below), allowing you to quickly review your out-of-network coverage. We encourage you to use this tool or contact your insurance provider directly to better understand your potential reimbursement before beginning treatment. Please contact us if you have any questions.

Q: How long is each session, and how many sessions will I need?
We offer the option of a 45 minute session or a 1-Hour session (recommended for couples). The length of your therapy journey varies depending on your goals and challenges. Some clients benefit from short-term support over a few months, while others find ongoing therapy helpful for longer periods.
Q: How frequently do I need to do therapy?
Most clients find that meeting once a week provides the right balance of consistency and support, especially when working through new or challenging issues. However, we understand that everyone’s circumstances, goals, and schedules are unique. After discussing your needs, we may decide that meeting every other week (biweekly) or checking in once a month better suits your progress and availability. Our primary goal is to create a schedule that feels sustainable, keeps you moving toward your objectives, and respects the demands of your everyday life.
We offer afternoon and evening appointments to accommodate busy schedules.
Q: What can I expect during my first appointment?
In your initial session, your therapist will ask about your concerns, history, and what you hope to achieve. It’s also an opportunity for both of us to assess whether our approach is the right match for your needs. You’re encouraged to share openly and ask any questions you may have. Together, we’ll start shaping a customized treatment plan that aligns with your goals.
Q: Is therapy confidential?
Yes. Your privacy and confidentiality are of utmost importance to us. We follow all applicable privacy laws and ethical guidelines to ensure your personal information is protected. We will only share information with your written permission or if required by law.
Q: Do you offer virtual sessions?
Yes. We’re committed to ensuring our online therapy experience is both convenient and clinically sound. Through secure, HIPAA-compliant video platforms, you’ll receive the same level of professional care and evidence-based treatment you would in a traditional office setting. Meeting virtually lets you skip the commute, schedule sessions more flexibly around work or family, and engage in therapy from a space where you feel most comfortable. We use high-quality audio and video for clear communication, and our therapists are trained to foster a personal, empathetic connection, no matter the distance. This approach helps you feel consistently supported, making it easier to integrate mental health care into your everyday life.
Q: How do I book an appointment?
You can schedule a free consultation today through our online secure booking system. You can also call our office, or email our administrative team (info@theprismpractice.com). We’ll help you find a convenient time and match you with the therapist who best meets your needs.
Q: What is your cancellation policy?
We require at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your session. Late cancellations or missed sessions are charged the full session fee. Please let your therapist know as soon as possible if something comes up and you need to adjust your appointment time.
